American expat gifts helmets to Pattaya residents to boost safety
An American expat residing in Pattaya gained widespread admiration for his charitable efforts directed at enhancing children’s safety.
Along with other generous donors and with the support of local restaurant Cajun Life Cafe and compassionate Pattaya police officers, the American distributed helmets to children and some adults in need on Pratumnak Soi 5.
The expat, 57 year old Rick Brown who is well-known on TikTok, took it upon himself to distribute helmets to children who are seen riding motorcycles without them.
In one of his popular videos, Brown is shown stopping a motorbike carrying two children and politely offering the parents helmets for their kids. The parents responded with gratitude, visibly touched by his thoughtful gesture.
His actions have captured the attention of a vast online audience, with some videos surpassing 1 million views. Many viewers commend Brown for his dedication to children’s safety, while others share personal stories of past motorcycle accidents.
During an interview with local media, Brown shared the motivation behind his initiative. He was moved to start distributing helmets after frequently seeing children riding motorcycles without any head protection. This concern led him to purchase helmets and offer them for free to those in need.
Having lived in Thailand for two years, Brown expressed his deep affection for the country and its people. Aware of the financial constraints some families face, he aims to alleviate this burden by providing helmets at no cost.
Brown funds his mission largely out of his own pocket, supplemented by donations from like-minded individuals. He remains steadfast in his commitment to continue this initiative, supported by contributions from donors and friends from his home country.
Brown added that another motivating factor behind his helmet scheme stems from a traumatic motorcycle accident when he was young. His friends pranked him, causing a crash, and he was not wearing a helmet at the time. The accident left him with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Brown battled with PTSD symptoms for numerous years before overcoming them and regaining the ability to lead a normal life. Determined to prevent others from experiencing what he endured, he distributed helmets to children free of charge.
His dedication to promoting safety and protecting children in Pattaya is both inspiring and impactful, reported Pattaya News.
