AI-powered surveillance to boost tourist security in Pattaya

Pattaya City is set to enhance tourist security with artificial intelligence (AI) powered surveillance systems, allowing closer monitoring and response to incidents. This follows a meeting between the mayor and the city’s Tourist Police.
Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet met with the newly appointed Pattaya Tourist Police Chief, Police Colonel Songwut Chueaplakij, and his team to discuss the initiative. The AI-integrated cameras will be capable of identifying and analysing movements, including walking, running, falling, fighting, and potential criminal activity.
Connected to local technology networks, these systems are said to facilitate quicker and more effective law enforcement responses by the city.
Mayor Poramet emphasised that Pattaya City’s extensive CCTV network is already in place, with surveillance operations managed from the Control Room on the second floor of City Hall. The system works in coordination with the Strong Tourism Community (STC) project at Walking Street, overseen by the Tourist Police.
The Mayor of Pattaya City along with Pattaya Tourist Police iterated the main goal of the camera implementation, which is to reinforce security measures to protect tourists and residents alike. The AI-driven surveillance is expected to act as a deterrent against criminal activities.
Officials believe the enhanced security will further strengthen Pattaya’s reputation as a leading global tourist destination, reported The Pattaya Mail.
