Chiang Mai unveils cultural and health tourism route

Chiang Mai launched a new cultural and health tourism route during the National Thai Traditional Medicine Wisdom Day and the Thai Traditional Medicine Wisdom Fair.

The event took place yesterday, October 25, and was presided over by Siwa Thamikanon, the Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai, who was assigned by Nirut Phongsitthithaworn, the Governor of Chiang Mai.

Thitikarn Na Pan, the Deputy Provincial Public Health Doctor of Chiang Mai, delivered a report at the ceremony held at the Huern Por Sala Daeng Learning Centre in San Pa Tong district, Chiang Mai.

The Chiang Mai Provincial Public Health Office, in collaboration with San Pa Tong district, San Pa Tong Hospital, Thepparatnavejchanukul Hospital, government agencies, and private sectors, organised a tribute ceremony to King Rama III, the father of Thai traditional medicine. The event aimed to preserve and promote Thai traditional medicine, Lanna folk medicine, and health tourism.

Various activities were featured at the fair, including academic discussions, mobile Thai traditional medicine clinics by government and private sectors, folk medicine, Chinese medicine, and demonstrations by esteemed local healers.

Visitors experienced traditional treatments such as Yam Khang (fire therapy), Tok Sen (hammer massage), foot soaking, knee packs, and eye packs.

Exhibitions from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Chiang Mai University, Pa Sang Hospital in Lamphun, the Lanna Traditional Medicine Federation, the Thai Traditional Medicine Association of Chiang Mai, the Lanna Spa Association, the Lanna Thai Massage Entrepreneurs Club, and the Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga Foundation in Chiang Mai showcased their contributions.

The event also saw the presentation of various certificates. Seven participants received the Thainess Wellness Destination (TWD) certificates, two were awarded the ‘Healthy City Model’ certificates, five were recognised for excellence in Thai traditional and alternative medicine, and 52 entities received certificates for supporting the Thai Traditional Medicine Wisdom Fair.

A new health and cultural tourism route in San Pa Tong district, Chiang Mai, was inaugurated. Additional academic lectures were provided by community hospitals and the Faculty of Pharmacy, Chiang Mai University, enriching the event’s educational value, reported KhaoSod.
