A woman recently rescued a large turtle found in the middle of the road in Phetchabun, believing it could bring her good luck. The turtle’s shell featured patterns resembling ancient coins and a sage’s head, leading to speculation about its auspicious nature.
A TikTok user posted a video showing her helping the sizable turtle that was slowly crossing the street, stretching its neck out as if calling for help. Concerned that other drivers might not see the turtle and accidentally run it over, she intervened.
The post quickly garnered numerous comments, with some netizens jokingly questioning why the turtle was carried off while others applauded her for the rescue. Many viewers also interpreted the turtle’s unique shell patterns as lucky numbers for lottery tickets.
The reporter visited Patranit’s home in Wang Phikun, Bueng Sam Phan district, Phetchabun province. Patranit, who had posted the video, showcased the 12-kilogramme turtle with a shell that indeed had patterns similar to ancient religious coins near its head, and designs resembling a sage’s head on its underside.
Patranit recounted that she was driving home after making merit at a temple when she noticed something in the middle of the road. At first, she thought it might be a turtle because of its extended neck but her companion suggested it might be a large dog.
They reversed the car to get a closer look and confirmed it was a turtle. Fearing that other vehicles might not see it and accidentally run it over, she decided to take the turtle home temporarily before finding a suitable place to release it, reported KhaoSod.
“After bringing the turtle home, people came to look at it, hoping to derive lucky numbers for the lottery. Some even won daily prizes, although I didn’t buy any tickets myself. For the upcoming draw on October 16, I plan to buy a ticket with my car’s registration number, just in case the turtle brings me luck again. I’ve already won twice before, and finding this turtle feels like a sign.”
