Indonesian woman’s first date sparks debate over splitting the bill
A young Indonesian woman’s first date experience sparked a heated debate online about who should pay on a first date. The story revolves around Sisil, a 25 year old woman, who shared her unexpected encounter with her date’s approach to splitting costs.
In July, Sisil met a man for their first date at a restaurant in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Anticipation was high for Sisil, as she was looking forward to the date. During the meal, her date initially made small talk about his hobbies. However, the conversation soon shifted to expenses, as he requested they split the bill for everything, including the meal and parking fees.
Sisil’s story quickly gained traction on social media, stirring a lively debate about dating etiquette. In an interview, she expressed her surprise at his request but tried to remain composed.
“I was shocked when he brought it up but I tried to act normal and was quite intrigued by his perspective.”
Despite the unconventional start, the relationship continued, and Sisil revealed that they were still dating and even planning to marry, reported KhaoSod.
“We are still together to this day. We continue because we feel comfortable with each other. Now, he pays for everything.
In related news, a Chinese man was left shocked and out of pocket after his blind date brought 23 relatives to the restaurant. The woman, Ms Zhang, later sued her date, Mr Liu, to recover the hefty bill for the meal.
Mr Liu from Jilin Province, China, met Ms Zhang through a chaperone and arranged to have their first date at a restaurant they both frequented. He was left astonished when Ms Zhang arrived with 23 family members in tow but opted to be cordial and meet them all.
