An elderly man and his family performed a ceremony to seek fortune from a mysterious stone resembling an ancient boundary marker, which they unearthed 10 years ago and have since remained safe. His son revealed experiencing unusual sensations upon first touching the stone.

During a local ceremony yesterday, 86 year old Samran Kaewkhunthong, his family, and fellow villagers from the Khok Pradu, Thanon Hak subdistrict, Nang Rong district, Buriram province, presented offerings of flowers, incense, and candles.

They performed a ritual to apologise and seek blessings from a large, peculiar stone shaped like an ancient boundary marker, as well as several other ancient sandstone rocks, located in the western fields of Khok Noen village.

The discovery of this unique stone dates back to 2014 when a tractor was hired to level the rice fields. The stone, resembling an ancient boundary marker, was uncovered during this process. Since then, villagers have come to pay their respects and seek fortune, with many reportedly winning lottery prizes.

After performing the ritual, attendees often search for lucky numbers. There have been instances where individuals attempted to steal the discovered stones but returned them shortly after, likely encountering some form of misfortune.

Samran, the landowner of the plot where the stone was found, recounted that in early 2014, he had hired a tractor to prepare his land for rice planting. During the levelling, they stumbled upon a large stone resembling an ancient boundary marker, along with several other rocks similar to old sandstone. Subsequently, a structure resembling a shrine was constructed to house these stones.

Since then, villagers have visited the site to seek fortune, especially near lottery draw dates, with many claiming to have won. Samran himself has remained safe from accidents, including a fall from his house, and continues to enjoy good health. This has reinforced his belief that the area is sacred.

Foreign languages

Samran’s son, 61 year old Narong Kaewkhunthong shared his extraordinary experience. Upon first touching the ancient boundary marker stone, he felt a strange sensation, as if someone had possessed him.

Suddenly, he could speak multiple languages, including Chinese, Cambodian, and an ancient monkey language. This convinced him of the stone’s sacred nature, attracting continuous visits from people seeking fortune. However, he noted that such beliefs are personal.

“When I first touched the stone, I felt something possessing me. Suddenly, I spoke in several languages, including Chinese and Cambodian.”

The villagers’ ongoing belief in the stone’s mystical properties continues to draw visitors to the shrine, seeking fortune and protection. The site has become a local focal point for those hoping to benefit from its perceived sacredness, reported KhaoSod.
