Tragic collision in Lopburi: Pickup truck hits student transport, 1 dead and 29 injured

An accident unfolded at the intersection of Wat Jai when a woman driving a pickup truck collided with a student transport vehicle, resulting in the vehicle flipping over and leaving it severely damaged.

The driver, a 66 year old man named Boonjong (surname withheld), lost his life at the scene. The incident also resulted in injuries for 29 others, including students and the party involved in the other vehicle.

The collision occurred around the intersection of Soi 23, Ek Line, Phatthana Nikhom Subdistrict, Phatthana Nikhom District, Lopburi Province. The student transport vehicle, an Isuzu brand with Lopburi license plate number บม5413, was found overturned on its right side.

The sight of numerous students in pain and shock necessitated immediate first aid, with serious injuries being rushed to the hospital. Among the injured were 26 male and female students, and three individuals from the opposing vehicle, including the pickup truck driver.

The pickup truck, a Ford with a Bangkok license plate number 2ขผ9357, was driven by a 30 year old woman named Phatwaran (surname withheld). She sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital. In addition to the injured, there was one fatality found inside the vehicle, bringing the total count of casualties and fatalities to 30, reported KhaoSod.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that the student transport vehicle was heading towards the Pa Sak Chonlasit Dam from the Ek Line, while the pickup truck, coming from Soi 23, Tri Line, was speeding towards Phatthana Nikhom.

Upon reaching the intersection, the pickup truck, moving at high speed and without traffic lights for guidance, crashed into the right front side of the student transport vehicle. The heavy impact caused the student vehicle to flip over and fall by the roadside, leading to the aforementioned casualties.

The Phatthana Nikhom Police Station has detained Phatwaran for investigation and potential charges of reckless driving causing death and injury.
