Thai police officer brutally assaulted by colleague at entertainment venue
A police lieutenant is accused of brutally assaulting a senior officer, a police captain, at an entertainment venue in Soi Lat Phrao 22, Bangkok, following a dispute involving the attacker’s friend.
The victim, 44 year old Police Captain Kiattikhun, who serves at Khok Khram Police Station in Bangkok, lodged a formal complaint against Police Lieutenant Kitti, at Wang Thong Lang Police Station stemming from an argument on November 11 and the subsequent assault in the early hours of November 12.
According to a report by Channel 7, Captain Kiattikhun was at the entertainment venue, owned by his brother, when he noticed a bar worker named Bao entering with 10 associates. Bao previously caused disturbances at the venue, prompting Kiattikhun to be concerned about potential inappropriate behaviour from the group.
Kiattikhun observed that Lieutenant Kitti, also stationed at Khok Khram Police Station, was accompanying the group. He approached Kitti to discuss ways to prevent Bao and his friends from causing trouble at the venue.
However, Kitti reportedly took offence to Kiattikhun’s concerns about Bao, leading to a heated argument that quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
Kitti and his associates allegedly attacked Kiattikhun, with one seizing his firearm and striking him in the face with the weapon. During the assault, Kitti reportedly taunted Kiattikhun saying…
“You’re just a young police officer but I’m mafia. Don’t you know how many people I’ve shot dead? I’m still here without any imprisonment, see?”
Previous murder involvement
Kiattikhun stated that Kitti’s son and the son’s girlfriend also participated in the attack. He managed to escape with assistance from an officer from Lat Phrao Police Station, who arrived at the venue late that night.
Channel 7 reported that the superintendent of Khok Khram Police Station declined to comment, stating that both parties would be questioned at Wang Thong Lang Police Station.
At around 3pm, an officer resembling Kitti appeared at Wang Thong Lang Police Station. He denied being Kitti and insisted he was not involved in the incident. However, other officers confirmed to journalists that the individual was indeed Kitti, who arrived with his son.
The media outlet also revealed that Kitti changed his name from Chanankit. As a police senior sergeant major in 2011, he was allegedly implicated in the murder of a prominent lumber dealer.
Although arrested at the time, Kitti appears to have evaded legal repercussions and continued his career, eventually being promoted to police lieutenant. Details of the legal proceedings and court verdicts in that case remain unclear.
