Teenage boy killed in Pattaya motorbike accident

A motorbike carrying two young boys collided with a trailer truck yesterday afternoon in Pattaya. The older brother sadly lost his life while the younger one sustained minor injuries.

The two were en route to Pattaya from Rayong for a visit to their mother, as narrated by the surviving brother.

The catastrophe took place near the entrance of Soi Nong Ket Yai 7 in the Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province. Pattaya law enforcement and Sawang Boriboon rescue teams were alerted at around 1pm yesterday and promptly arrived at the scene.

Upon their arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of the older brother, a 16 year old boy, identified by his first name, Po, crushed under the trailer truck. The aftermath of the accident was a horrifying sight, with the white Honda Wave 125 motorbike ridden by the boys lying damaged in close proximity to the truck. Hero, the 12 year old brother, was also found at the scene, having survived the crash with only minor injuries.

Hero recounted their journey from Rayong to Pattaya, with Po driving the motorbike and him seated at the back. He narrated how the truck abruptly cut them off while making a turn into an alley, leading to the unfortunate collision. Po, unable to evade the truck, was run over, while Hero managed to jump off the motorcycle, escaping with only a few bruises.

Jarin Petchad, the 30 year old truck driver involved in the accident, gave his account to the police. He claimed that he was making a turn into Soi Nong Ket Yai 7, and he collided with the motorbike. He alleged he had not noticed the motorbike and only became aware of it upon the collision, reported Pattaya News.

To verify the accounts given by Hero and Jarin, local law enforcement is currently examining CCTV footage from the vicinity. This will assist in determining the exact sequence of events and whether there is a need for legal charges to be levied against Jarin.
