Teen dies in tragic gun accident in Samut Prakan
A tragic accident unfolded when an 18 year old mechanical student from a well-known school accidentally shot himself in the groin while handling a gun, leading to his untimely death. The incident occurred when he attempted to pull the weapon from his trousers, according to a younger friend present at the scene.
At around 3.30am yesterday, December 29, officers from Bang Kaew Police Station in Samut Prakan province received reports of a severe gunshot injury in Soi Mueang Kaew 6, Bang Kaew, Bang Phli district. Responding swiftly, investigators, along with rescue teams from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and medical staff from Prince Suvarnabhumi Hospital, arrived at the scene to assist.
The location, in the middle of the street, revealed the victim, known as 18 year old Bee, a second-year student from a technical college in the Bang Chak area. He was found lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to his groin.
Despite desperate efforts by rescue personnel to administer first aid and perform CPR, Bee succumbed to his injuries shortly after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
The scene of the incident was traced back to a residence where a trail of blood led investigators inside. There, they encountered a 15 year old friend of the deceased, pseudonymously referred to as A, who awaited the police to provide his account.
Inside the victim’s bedroom, police discovered a homemade firearm used in the incident, along with two additional homemade guns, various gun parts, and two knives, all seized as evidence. Witnesses from the scene were taken to the police station for further questioning.
Gun accident
A, the friend who witnessed the event, explained that the two were alone in the house when Bee began examining the gun. The tragedy struck as Bee attempted to remove the firearm from his trousers, resulting in an accidental discharge into his groin.
In a frantic effort to save him, A carried Bee to the entrance of the alley. Meanwhile, Bee’s uncle reported receiving news of his nephew’s shooting and rushed to the scene, finding Bee unconscious on arrival. Emergency services were promptly contacted for assistance, reported KhaoSod.
“When it happened, I was selling grilled pork outside the alley,” recounted a street vendor. “They brought the injured young man here, and he was still conscious at first. But after a while, he lost consciousness until the officers arrived to perform CPR before taking him to the hospital.”
Initial investigations involved photographing the crime scene, collecting evidence, and interviewing those involved to uncover the true cause behind the incident before proceeding with legal actions. The deceased’s body was entrusted to a foundation for transfer to a forensic institute to determine the exact cause of death.
