A tragic incident in Nakhon Pathom resulted in the death of a mother at the hands of her son, who had just returned from a drug rehabilitation programme three days earlier. The 32 year old son was apprehended by police while riding a motorcycle to buy methamphetamine.

Police Lieutenant Sata Porn Duangsi of the Nakhon Pathom City Police Station received a report about a son killing his mother at their home in Nong Ngu Lueam, Nakhon Pathom. The incident occurred yesterday, September 4, at 6pm. Coordination with medical staff from Nakhon Pathom Hospital and senior police officials, including Police Colonel Phupon Thapcharoen and Police Lieutenant Samran Buayen, led to an immediate investigation at the scene.

At the single-storey house, the body of a 54 year old woman was found lying next to the house. She had severe lacerations inflicted by a sharp object, multiple bruises, and a blood-stained hoe was discovered nearby as evidence. The son had fled the scene on a bicycle but was captured by an investigative team 5 kilometres away.

Police Lieutenant Samran disclosed that the son confessed to the crime, stating that he had struck his mother on the head with a flowerpot before using the hoe. He claimed that the violence stemmed from longstanding grievances within the family, particularly involving his grandparents.

After the attack, he left the house to buy meth and was apprehended 5 kilometres from the scene, a known route for his drug purchases. The police plan to extend their investigation to the drug dealers connected to the case.

The village head of Moo 5 stated that the son had a history of drug addiction, which the mother had reported to both the village head and the police, but no effective intervention was made. Despite repeated arrests and releases, the cycle continued.

Just three days before the murder, the son had returned from a drug rehabilitation programme, yet his behaviour remained unchanged. He continued to demand money, act aggressively, and cause disturbances.

In the past, he had sold all the air conditioners in the house and even demolished a spirit house, reported KhaoSod.
