Thai cop allegedly rapes 19 year old woman he met on dating app

A Thai Marine Police Division officer allegedly raped a 19 year old woman he met on a dating application after he lured her to a welfare house in Chon Buri province.

ThaiRath reported that a Thai TikToker shared a video about the sexual assault and warned women using dating apps to stay away from police officers. Reporters then spoke to officers at Siracha Police Station who were investigating the case.

According to the police, the teenage victim chatted with the alleged rapist cop on an application called Omi. The victim lived in the eastern province of Rayong and travelled to meet the police officer at Nongmon Market in Chon Buri on February 9.

The officer picked up the victim from the market and took her to his welfare accommodation. He demanded sex but the woman refused. The cop would not let her go and reportedly raped her inside the house. The woman then contacted her friend to take her home and reported the matter to Siracha Police Station on February 12.

Athiwat said he would provide justice to both parties. He said the victim was not a youth so he would encourage her to end the matter by accepting an apology and compensation from the alleged rapist.

ThaiRath discovered that the accused officer served at Siracha Marine Police Station in the Marine Police Sub-Division 5. The commander of the sub-division, Thayakorn Kusonsinlapabanchorn, made known he would set up a committee to investigate the matter and punish the accused officer if found guilty.
