A multi-winning Rayong woman, who has scooped the national lottery in Thailand 19 consecutive times, is preparing for the next draw on August 16 after crediting her luck to a monk’s blessing.

At 3pm yesterday, August 8, the 51 year old woman, known for owning several popular plant shops in Rayong, opened a free food stall serving som tam to the public at Thepnimit Temple in Bangbut, Ban Khai District, Rayong, after winning the lottery 19 times in a row.

Upon arrival at Thepnimit Temple, reporters observed a large crowd of people gathered to pay their respects to the towering statue of Thao Wessuwan and the revered figure of Kumarn Sombat. Many queued up to receive a hand blessing, a ritual believed to bring good fortune. Notably, a crowd formed in front of a tent where free som tam, donated by the generous woman, was being distributed.

The reporter met with multi-winning lottery winner, Oradee Phuttasat, the owner of Khun Orn Plant Shop, the largest plant shop in Rayong, who had been running the free som tam stall for several days.

Oradee explained that she decided to offer free som tam daily to those visiting the temple to pray and seek blessings from sacred figures. Her luck began after receiving blessings from Luang Por Chanwit Chakaro, the abbot of Thepnimit Temple. This blessing seems to have miraculously guided her to the temple for the first time, a place she had never visited before.

Oradee recounted how she relied on a GPS to find her way to the temple, discovering its lush, tree-filled grounds upon arrival. Noticing the lack of seating, she donated marble tables to the temple.

In gratitude, the abbot blessed her hand and asked her age, to which she replied, “51 years old.” The abbot remarked, “That’s a lucky number,” prompting her to use it for her next lottery ticket, leading to her string of wins.

Following this, Oradee sought blessings from the statue of Kumarn Sombat at Thepnimit Temple and drew the numbers 62 and 462 for her next lottery try.

“I have strong faith in Luang Por Chanwit Chakaro. It was like a miracle the first time I came to the temple.”

The temple, now bustling with visitors, has become synonymous with Oradee’s extraordinary luck. Her story has drawn attention, inspiring many to visit the temple in hopes of receiving their blessings. The community has warmly embraced her charitable efforts, with long queues becoming a daily sight at her som tam stall.

As the next lottery draw approaches on Friday, August 16, Oradee remains a figure of fascination and hope for many. Her tale is a testament to the power of faith and generosity, with her continuous wins and charitable actions intertwining to create a unique narrative that captivates the public.
