A love-struck Thai man in the southern province of Phatthalung has decided to forgive and forget, even after his boyfriend savagely attacked him with a wooden stick, leaving him unconscious. Remarkably, the victim has declared he still loves his assailant.

Officers from Mueang Phatthalung Police Station were alerted to the assault at a house in the Mueang district of Phatthalung province and rushed to check on the victim, later identified as 34 year old Thep-anan. He was found lying unconscious with a serious wound to his head.

The attacker, 53 year old Suchart, was Thep-anan’s boyfriend who fled the house after the attack. Before leaving, Suchart admitted to a neighbour that he had hit Thep-anan on the head with a wooden stick and did not know whether his boyfriend had died or not.

The owner of the house, 54 year old Sujin, told police that the couple were friends of her younger brother. They could not afford accommodation and asked to stay with her temporarily. She mentioned that the two had been arguing with each other more frequently lately.

The neighbour, 35 year old Kanyarat, informed the police that Suchart no longer loved Thep-anan and asked him to return to his family home in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. However, Thep-anan still loved Suchart and refused to leave.

CCTV footage showed Thep-anan running out of the house to seek help from neighbours before losing consciousness. The attacker was seen leaving the scene on his motorcycle. The neighbours then called the police.

The police questioned Thep-anan after administering first aid in order to proceed with legal action against Suchart. However, Thep-anan insisted that he did not wish to take legal action against his boyfriend. He emphasised that he forgave him and still loved him.

“I don’t want any legal involvement. Is that possible? I feel sorry for him. I love him. I don’t want to press charges against him.”

In a related report, a Thai man forgave his wife after she attacked him with a knife while they were drinking alcohol together in the Isaan province of Surin.

The wife said she stabbed her husband because he touched her vagina too forcefully. The husband stated that he understood his wife and forgave her, finding that the incident had kept their relationship lively.
