Military truck and motorcycle collision kills 3 in central Thailand

A military truck collided with a motorcycle sidecar yesterday, resulting in the deaths of three people, including a child, and seriously injuring one person. The incident took place yesterday, April 22, at 2.30pm on the 3481 road in Bang Nam Priao district, Chachoengsao province.

Police from Bang Khonak Station, along with medical personnel, emergency services, and rescue units, arrived at the scene to investigate.

They found the military truck had veered off the road into a grassy area, with the sidecar motorcycle reduced to a heap of metal debris.

In a nearby ditch, the bodies of three people were discovered: 25 year old Rungkij, 56 year old Somjit, and an eight year old boy.

Another victim, a woman, was found seriously injured and was rushed to a hospital by emergency services.

The military truck driver explained that they were returning from training in Lopburi province, heading back to their base in Koh Chan, Phanat Nikhom district, Chon Buri province.

While driving towards Ban Sang, the sidecar motorcycle from the opposite direction lost control, crossed lanes, and collided forcefully. Although the driver attempted to brake, it was too late to prevent the collision.

Relatives of the deceased stated that Rungkij had been driving the sidecar motorcycle to take family members to withdraw social security money in Chachoengsao city. They were returning home when the accident occurred, leaving them in shock upon hearing the news, reported KhaoSod.

Police have sent the bodies to the hospital and are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The families of the deceased will be allowed to retrieve the bodies for religious ceremonies once the investigation has concluded.

In similar news, a truck crash at a drink-driving checkpoint in Khan Na Yao, Bangkok, injured three people, including a traffic officer.

The incident occurred at 3am on March 25 when the truck collided with a pickup and a police motorcycle. Both vehicles sustained severe damage, with the truck’s front left side extensively crushed.
