Major drug trafficking bust in Mukdahan seizes over 600,000 meth pills
A drug trafficking gang was apprehended in the province of Mukdahan, as Region 4 Police seized a staggering haul of over 600,000 meth pills on December 10.
Acting on intelligence, the law enforcement officers intercepted a white Mitsubishi Attrage sedan en route from Don Tan district to Mueang Mukdahan district.
Behind the wheels was 30 year old Daeng, a resident of Mukdahan, with 27 year old Itthipon as his passenger. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of more than just two occupants. Concealed within the car were three bags, containing over 600,000 meth pills. As if that was not enough, an unregistered Glock 19 handgun and 45 rounds of ammunition were found hidden beneath the passenger seat.
Upon questioning, both men confessed to the crime. They revealed that an unidentified individual in the Tha Nam sub-district, Don Tan district, was their supplier. The meth pills were intended for delivery to customers in the Khon Kaen province and other northeastern regions.
In a parallel operation, a grey Isuzu Dmax pickup truck was flagged down. Identified as part of the drug trafficking operation, the vehicle served the purpose of a scout, ensuring a clear route for the sedan. The Phra Khrai Sri Suk checkpoint in the Nong Soong district was on high alert and successfully intercepted the truck.
Within the vehicle were 27 year old Kritawit and 25 year old Prapatsiri. Although no illegal items were found on them, both admitted to their involvement in the drug smuggling operation with the previous two suspects, reported Pattaya News.
The suspects, alongside the confiscated narcotics, firearm, and ammunition, were escorted to the Mukdahan Police Station. They now face charges of conspiracy to distribute Type 1 narcotics and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Region 4 Police are currently undertaking the process of asset forfeiture, with the suspects’ property worth 1.46 million baht in the crosshairs. Meanwhile, the hunt for the elusive drug supplier continues, promising more developments in this high-stake case against narcotics.
