In the heart of Ngamwongwan, Nonthaburi, a luxury gambling den concealed within a hotel was recently exposed, leading to the capture of 49 individuals, comprising gamblers and employees alike.

This took place on November 30 and was a significant operation spearheaded by Rattanathibet police officers.

Officers immediately began the process of questioning the suspects, subsequently pressing charges against them. Following this, the Nonthaburi provincial court imposed fines ranging from 4,000 baht to 8,000 baht, depending on the severity of the offences. These fines targeted both Chinese gamblers and Thai card dealers involved in the illegal operations.

As the crackdown continued, the police made a significant capture. The owner of the gambling den, identified only as Qi, was apprehended. Qi made no attempts to hide his ownership of the establishment, leading to his swift capture by the police.

Upon his capture, Qi was presented before the Nonthaburi provincial court. The charges levelled against him were severe, including the possession of firearms and ammunition without appropriate permissions, alongside the organization of unauthorized gambling activities.

The Nonthaburi provincial court, in its judgement, decided not to grant bail to Qi. The court’s decision was influenced by several factors, including Qi’s lack of a permanent settlement and the severity of his crimes, which could lead to imprisonment for three years or more. The court’s decision aligns with the report provided by Nonthaburi reporters, who have been closely following this significant case, reported Pattaya News.

With the court’s decision, it is evident that the law enforcement agencies in Nonthaburi are committed to cracking down on illegal activities such as these. The swift action taken by the Rattanathibet police officers and the subsequent court proceedings serves as a stern reminder of the consequences of engaging in illicit activities.
