Knife-wielding man apprehended in Pattaya
Local law enforcement successfully subdued a disoriented man wielding a knife and displaying erratic and aggressive behaviour in Soi Thappraya 12, near Pattaya Park last Sunday, March 24.
Initially caught off guard, unprepared municipal officers were swiftly reinforced by a specialised police task force armed with riot control gear.
Eyewitnesses recounted tense moments as law enforcement closed in on the man, eventually cornering him in a nearby alley. The individual in question has been identified as Wirasak Boontot, a 38 year old resident of an abandoned building in the area.
Authorities suspect substance abuse may have played a significant role in his behaviour, reported Pattaya Mail.
Wirasak was promptly taken into custody, and a thorough investigation is now underway to ensure the safety of the community.
In related news, a man was found critically injured following a brutal knife attack in Pattaya. The incident transpired in the wee hours of March 13, under the overpass near Motorway 7, Nong Prue subdistrict, Banglamung district, Chon Buri province.
The news of the attack was relayed to Nong Prue police, who in collaboration with highway patrol and rescue personnel promptly arrived at the scene. The 35 year old victim was found unconscious, bearing severe injuries to his head and neck.
In other news, a police officer went on a frenzied rampage in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, leaving an elderly woman fatally stabbed and another seriously injured. The incident occurred on February 24, when the officer, reportedly suffering a mental breakdown, charged out of a police flat, kicked over a motorcycle carrying two women, and attacked them with a knife.
Eyewitnesses describe a scene of chaos near the Cha-uat Police Station, only a few metres away from where the officer lived. The two victims, both 60 years old, were riding their motorcycle when the assailant, armed with a bloodied knife, struck with lethal intent.
