Worker fatally crushed by garbage truck in Nakhon Si Thammarat

A tragic incident unfolded yesterday when a refuse collection worker, was fatally crushed by a garbage truck operated by the subdistrict administrative organisation (SAO) of Kamlon in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

The accident occurred in the area of Moo 1, Kamlon subdistrict, Lansaka district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. Despite desperate shouts for the driver to stop, visibility issues led to the truck inadvertently rolling over the worker, resulting in his immediate death.

Upon receiving the distress call, Police Colonel Prapas Srisangkajorn, the chief of Lansaka Police Station, rushed to the scene along with emergency doctors from Lansaka Hospital and the local rescue unit. There, they discovered a large six-wheeled compression garbage truck parked with the 47 year old worker, Yodchai’s body lying on the left side of the vehicle, severely injured from the truck rolling over his chest.

Investigations revealed that before the accident, Yodchai was performing his duties along with three colleagues, patrolling the Kamlon SAO area to collect waste. They had stopped near Wat Chan where Yodchai disembarked from the rear of the truck to gather trash for compaction.

Unseen by the driver, the truck moved, tragically resulting in Yodchai’s instant death despite the immediate cries to halt the vehicle, reported KhaoSod.

Following the incident, authorities examined the scene and took the driver into custody, charging him with reckless driving causing death.

In related news, a 28 year old Cambodian worker was crushed beneath a cascade of cement bags at approximately 10am on March 12 at a condominium construction site in Nonthaburi. Upon arrival at the site in Sai Noi district, responders were met with a harrowing sight: the victim lay motionless on the ground floor, her life cut short by injuries to her neck and chest.

A preliminary investigation revealed the grim circumstances surrounding the Cambodian worker’s death.

In other news, a freight elevator at a renowned restaurant in Khon Kaen malfunctioned and plummeted, fatally crushing a 46 year old female restaurant worker.
