Jealous Thai husband kills wife over alleged fraud and affair
A jealous Thai man stabbed his wife to death in their apartment in Nonthaburi province, near Bangkok, yesterday, October 24, claiming she defrauded him and spent all of his money on her lover.
The 65 year old Thai man, Karim Susaree, called officers from Rattanathibet Police Station to report the death of his 54 year old wife, Raenu Nikoratha, and turned himself in for the murder. Karim waited next to his wife’s lifeless body to surrender to the police.
Raenu was found lying dead at the door of the couple’s apartment on the fifth floor of a building in Soi Ngam Wongwan 31 in Nonthaburi. She had six stab wounds to her chest.
Karim told the police that he and his wife frequently argued over the past two years, mostly over her lover and her alleged deceitful behaviour. He admitted to intentionally killing his wife to put an end to their ongoing issues. He also said he did not want his children to witness further arguments between him and his wife.
Karim revealed the final straw to the police, stating that he and his wife were gemstone vendors. They recently sold jewellery worth 10,000 baht, and his wife gave him 7,000 baht, claiming that she would give the remaining 3,000 baht to their children. However, she did not do so.
Karim later discovered that his wife transferred the 3,000 baht to her lover, who resides in the central province of Kanchanaburi. She frequently expressed her desire to divorce him and marry another man.
On the day of the incident, Karim took his wife to make merit at a temple, hoping she would change and be honest with him. However, upon returning home, he caught her speaking to another man online, which angered him further.
Karim explained that he asked his wife to accompany him to their gemstone shop, which made her angry as she wanted to rest after the temple visit. Eventually, she agreed to go with him, but as they were leaving the room, Karim attacked her.
CCTV footage captured Karim pushing and kicking his wife before stabbing her multiple times. He walked away from the scene but later returned. He stayed with the body for about 15 minutes before informing the apartment staff, security guards, and the police.
Karim expressed his deep regret, stating that he loved his wife dearly and felt remorseful for what happened. He also apologised to his children and said he was prepared to face imprisonment.
Karim was charged with intentional murder. The penalty for this crime ranges from 15 to 20 years of imprisonment, life imprisonment, or the death penalty.
