Footballer injured in violent match seeks justice in Samut Prakan (video)

A 38 year old football player filed a police report after a match turned violent, leading to a broken arm. He accused his opponent of intentionally targeting him rather than playing the game. The incident took place on March 9 at the Song Singh field in Samut Prakan’s Mueang district.

Ritnarong provided a medical certificate and video footage as evidence to the Samrong Nua Police Station, where he gave additional testimony to Police Lieutenant Weerapong Boontor.

He reported that Pae, whose full name is unknown, deliberately kicked him in the chest, face, and left arm, resulting in a fracture in two places.

Prior to the incident, Ritnarong and his teammates had entered a seven-a-side league competition with a 7,000 baht prize. While matches had previously proceeded without issues, the game against Pae’s team on March 9 was different.

Ritnarong stated that Pae accused him of badmouthing before escalating to aggressive play. Despite multiple fouls, the referee initially only issued a yellow card.

As the match progressed, Pae targeted Ritnarong, delivering a forceful kick to the chest that knocked him down. Further aggression led to a kick to the face and a severe blow to his left arm.

After the incident, Pae confronted Ritnarong verbally, questioning, “Are you not done yet?”

Despite not retaliating, the situation intensified, prompting the referee to eventually issue a red card to Pae towards the game’s end, with Ritnarong’s team winning 3-1.

Ritnarong insisted there had been no prior conflict with Pae, and was puzzled by the referee’s initial reluctance to issue a red card, possibly due to Pae’s team being the home team. He expressed that in his experience, such intentional aggression is unprecedented, as players typically apologise after in-game clashes.

Ritnarong confirmed his intention to pursue legal action against Pae and stated he will not settle the matter outside of court, reported KhaoSod.

Following his statement, the police are expected to summon Pae for further questioning to proceed with legal action.
