The perpetrator was identified as 72 year old Prakob, the victim’s father, who was waiting at the scene with minor knife wounds on his arm. A 20-centimetre folding knife, believed to be the weapon, was discovered nearby. The area was secured, and Prakob was taken into custody for further questioning.

During the investigation, Prakob admitted to stabbing his son during an altercation. Parinya demanded money from his father to buy drugs and alcohol.

When Prakob refused, citing insufficient funds, Parinya became aggressive and started to strangle him. Prakob, suffering from allergies and unable to breathe, grabbed a nearby fruit knife and stabbed his son five to six times in self defence, causing Parinya to collapse and die.

Phayao, Parinya’s 72 year old mother and Prakob’s wife, recounted through tears that Parinya regularly asked his father for money. If refused, he resorted to buying alcohol on credit from a nearby shop.

On this occasion, Parinya was agitated, asking his father to transfer money so he could leave the house. He had misplaced three methamphetamine pills and was frantically searching for them, causing a commotion while demanding his father’s phone, reported KhaoSod.

Phayao expressed her concern during the altercation, fearing for her safety and reluctant to intervene. She questioned Parinya’s intentions to destroy the phone, which contained important family contacts, warning that it would require replacement if broken. The situation escalated into a tragic confrontation.
