A tragic accident occurred when a bus fare collector, riding a motorcycle to work, lost control and crashed into a signpost, resulting in his death before reaching the BMTA bus depot. The fatal accident involved a motorcycle losing control at a curve and crashing into a signpost.

The incident occurred around 4.30am today, July 16, on a newly constructed road near the Bangkok gate, in the Sai Mai district of Bangkok. Police Lieutenant Satit Phaokaeo from Sai Mai Police Station, along with a forensic doctor from Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, rushed to the scene.

The accident occurred on a two-lane road heading towards Phahon Yothin Road, approximately 1 kilometre away. On the sidewalk, the lifeless body of 25 year old Krirkkiat, a bus fare collector for route 95 of the BMTA, was found.

He was wearing a black full-face helmet and a white collared shirt with the BMTA logo. He had facial injuries, a broken left leg, and a deformed right arm. His body was lying in a pool of blood. Nearby, a Honda MSX motorcycle with Bangkok registration was found overturned in the middle of the road, and the signpost was damaged.

Investigations revealed that before the accident, Krirkkiat had left his home in the Khu Khot area, Lam Luk Ka district, Pathum Thani province, to head to the Bang Khen bus depot for work. Upon reaching the accident spot, his motorcycle lost control and crashed into the signpost.

Initial procedures involved transporting the deceased to Bhumibol Hospital’s forensic department for a post-mortem examination. The family has been informed to make further funeral arrangements.

Police reported that the road conditions and the early hour might have contributed to the loss of control.

The BMTA staff member, known for his punctuality and dedication, was en route to begin his shift. His sudden demise has left colleagues and family in deep sorrow.

“Krirkkiat was always on time and very responsible. It’s heartbreaking to lose such a young and dedicated individual.”

Local police urged all motorists to be extra cautious, especially on unfamiliar roads and during the early hours with lower visibility, reported KhaoSod.
