A sudden swerve and flip of an asphalt truck on the Rama VII Bridge caused severe Bangkok traffic disruption in the early hours of this morning. The incident occurring at 4am, resulted in the complete blockage of all lanes on Charansanitwong Road, extending from Bang Phlat junction towards the Pracha Chuen Road and Wong Sawang areas.

Bang Kruai police were alerted to the overturned truck on the Rama VII bridge, on the side heading towards the Wong Sawang junction in Bang Kruai district, Nontha Buri province. Rescue workers and a tow truck were dispatched immediately to the scene to investigate and clear the area.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the six-wheeled truck, lying on its side, obstructing traffic in all lanes. The area was temporarily closed to traffic while efforts were made to move the truck.

The notorious Bangkok traffic was only worsened as the accident on Charansanitwong Road had further congested roadways, with many vehicles stuck in the ensuing traffic jam.

As of 7am, officials noted that the removal of the asphalt truck would take some time, though they were actively working on clearing the roadway.

The truck driver reported that while driving over the Rama VII bridge, a car in front suddenly braked in the middle of the bridge. To avoid a collision, the truck driver made an abrupt evasive manoeuvre, which caused the vehicle to lose its balance and flip, blocking the traffic lanes.

Fortunately, the driver sustained only minor injuries and was transported to Kasemrad Hospital Prachachuen for treatment, reported Khaosod.

The overturned truck caused significant inconvenience to commuters and required a coordinated response from emergency services to minimize the disruption. The incident is a stark reminder of the potential dangers that can occur on the roads, particularly when heavy vehicles are involved.

The quick response of the emergency teams helped to manage the situation and prevent further accidents or injuries. Traffic flow was eventually restored, though the event likely sparked discussions on road safety and the importance of preparedness for such unforeseen events.
