AirAsia Aviation Group and AirAsia X have revolutionised flight safety and efficiency by adopting SITA Mission Watch across seven airlines. This industry-leading technology promises to bring unprecedented improvements to their operations.

The partnership between Asia’s top low-cost carriers and SITA culminated in the implementation of SITA Mission Watch, a state-of-the-art flight tracking and monitoring solution. This advanced system provides comprehensive weather visualisation and shared situational awareness, creating a seamless connection between the operations control centre and the cockpit through innovative alerting and messaging systems.

Datuk Captain Chester Voo, Deputy Group CEO (Airline Operations), AirAsia Aviation Group stated that the company constantly looks for innovative tools that will raise the standards for the safety and efficiency of our operations.

“SITA has brought all seven airlines across the Group to the cutting edge of flight tracking technology, allowing us to go above and beyond industry safety standards, streamline our operations through a single platform, and boost the ease of collaboration between our flight dispatchers and pilots to resolve any potential issues before they happen.”

Deployed across AirAsia Malaysia, AirAsia X, AirAsia Philippines, AirAsia Indonesia, Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X, and AirAsia Cambodia, SITA Mission Watch enhances the management of over 200 aircraft, serving more than 130 destinations in 22 countries.

It maps each aircraft’s latitude, longitude, altitude, and time to provide 4D/15 visibility, surpassing the ICAO’s Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) tracking requirements. Integrating real-time weather data from multiple sources enables flight dispatchers to proactively address potential issues, facilitating seamless communication with the cockpit.

Yann Cabaret, CEO of SITA For Aircraft, expressed pride in strengthening their partnership with AirAsia.

“We’re helping dispatchers work smarter and safer while staying one step ahead of changing conditions.”

This partnership, active since 2020, also supports AirAsia’s sustainability goals with SITA OptiFlight®, reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, reported Travel Daily News.
