The crumbling Buddhist faith of Thailand is under question once more after yet another monk became embroiled in a scandal following a bout of mutual masturbation with a woman in a video call.

A temple in Ban Chang district, Rayong has become the talk of the town after a cheeky prank involving a woman using a cucumber to masturbate led to a monk’s suspension. Onlookers couldn’t believe their eyes as a saucy video call ended in uproar, causing quite the stir among the locals.

On Saturday, February 22, the normally serene temple grounds were anything but, as nearly 100 villagers gathered to confront the district abbot. The drama unfolded when an explosive clip surfaced, allegedly showing a monk caught in a compromising situation with a woman via a video call.

It all started with a playful yet audacious plot involving a cucumber, which led the monk to lift his robe and engage in unsavoury conduct right in his quarters. The woman egged him on, and before anyone could say “bless me father, for I have sinned,” the hut shook with excitement.

While the identity of the monk in the viral clip was initially unclear, the district abbot wasted no time in launching an investigation, forwarding the scandalous footage to the Office of Buddhism. It didn’t take long for the monk to confess, admitting to the misdeeds captured in the video, reported Amarin TV.

The plot thickens as it’s revealed that the woman, who initiated the risqué call, later used the clip for a spot of blackmail. After receiving an initial 50,000 baht, her demands grew to a hefty 200,000 baht. When the monk baulked at further payment, the scandalous footage was publicly aired, leaving the temple’s reputation hanging by a thread.

A 64 year old local woman, Railai, expressed her dismay over the incident.

“I feel somewhat relieved that the truth is coming out but there’s no way we can have him back at the temple. The community would be up in arms if he tried.”

As villagers await the official verdict from the provincial abbot, the temple’s peaceful façade has been disrupted, leaving all to ponder the monk’s fate in light of his naughty antics.

The Sangha Council is being pressed to ensure this monk won’t be making any more ‘holy’ video calls anytime soon.
