The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a forecast for today, February 24, predicting severe weather conditions across 49 provinces in Thailand. Thunderstorms, strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms are expected, particularly in the north and northeast regions. Following these conditions, temperatures are anticipated to drop by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.

Residents in upper Thailand are advised to take health precautions due to the changing weather. They should also be wary of potential hazards from thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, and lightning.

It is recommended to avoid open areas, large trees, unstable structures, and billboards. Farmers are advised to prepare for possible agricultural damage.

These conditions are attributed to a moderate to strong high-pressure system from China affecting the northeast and South China Sea. This has led to southerly and southeasterly winds bringing moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand over upper Thailand. Additionally, westerly wind waves from Myanmar will cover the north and upper northeast.

The northeast monsoon and easterly winds over the Gulf of Thailand, southern region, and Andaman Sea will intensify, leading to heavy rainfall in the south. Some areas may experience very heavy rain.

In the lower Gulf of Thailand, waves are expected to reach 2 to 3 metres, and over 3 metres in stormy areas. Upper Gulf of Thailand and off the Andaman Sea will see waves of about 2 metres, reaching over 2 metres in stormy areas.
