Woman arrested after cutting painter’s rope in high-rise incident

A woman charged with cutting a rope used by a painter in a high-profile 2021 incident has been apprehended. She had evaded a court summons after being convicted of attempted murder and property damage. Known for her reclusive behaviour, she was finally captured by police.

In 2021, a painter working on a 32-storey building in Pak Kret was forced to seek help from a resident after his rope was mysteriously severed. The suspect, a programmer residing on the 21st floor, initially denied involvement but later admitted to cutting the rope, citing annoyance as her reason.

Yesterday, April 5, the Facebook page Commando reported that the police commandos had arrested the woman who had been avoiding a Nonthaburi provincial court warrant. The warrant was issued after she failed to appear for sentencing in March following her conviction, which was upheld in court for attempted murder and property damage.

The October 12, 2021, incident was sparked by her anger over not being informed about the painters’ work. Although notices were posted in the lift, she claimed not to have seen them due to working from her room.

This led to her impulsive decision to cut the painter’s rope. Law enforcement charged her with attempted murder and property damage.

After being granted bail while the case was ongoing, the Nonthaburi provincial court eventually issued a warrant on March 24. The suspect was known to remain in her residence, rarely venturing outside, which aided the investigation team from Division 5 in her capture.

Once confronted, she acknowledged the warrant and claimed she had not been previously apprehended. The investigation team from Division 5 took her into custody to proceed with legal actions.

The operation was overseen by key police figures, including Police Lieutenant General Jiraphop Phuridet and Police Major General Teerachart Theerachartthamrong, with Police Colonel Boonrit Srivijit and Police Colonel Chaithipoom Amnuaychai coordinating, reported KhaoSod.
