Rescue diver’s body found in Ping River after fishing accident

The body of a 34 year old rescue diver, has been discovered in the Ping River after he went missing while fishing. His body was found yesterday, March 16 at a whirlpool, following an extensive overnight search by a rescue team in Chiang Mai province.
On March 15, Tonkla or Ditsakorn was fishing near a sand pier in Hod district, Chiang Mai, when he lost his footing while crossing the riverbank and was swept away by the strong currents. Efforts to locate him continued until 1am on March 16 without success. The search resumed at 8am the same day.
At 5pm, the search strategy was adjusted, deploying a team of over 40 people to form a line along the river’s surface. By 7.29pm, the rescue team discovered his body at the whirlpool, where water levels had decreased, reported KhaoSod.
The team used a boat to retrieve Ditsakorn’s body to the riverbank for examination by relevant officials. This procedure aims to determine the cause of death before releasing the body to his family for customary rites.
In similar news, Thai police are investigating the mysterious death of a Myanmar fisherman whose body was found floating in the sea between Phuket and Krabi just hours after he was reported missing from a fishing boat.
The body of 39 year old Zaw Min Thuy (also spelled Zaw Min Htoo) was discovered at around 3pm on March 12 and later brought ashore at Sinpaiboonchai Pier in Ratsada at 9.45pm, according to Phuket City Police.
A forensic team and an investigative unit were deployed to examine the body while officers worked to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.
Niran Phummarin, captain of the fishing vessel Sor Pattana 2, stated that the crew noticed Thuy was missing at around 9am. A search was launched, and hours later, his lifeless body was found floating in open waters.
