Thai PM sues man impersonating her adviser to deceive actress

Thailand Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has taken legal action against a man impersonating her advisor to deceive a Thai actress.

The 33 year old Thai actress, Rinyarat “Kana” Watchararojsiri, yesterday, April 7, exposed the deceitful behaviour of her ex-boyfriend, identified as Thunyathep “Hot” Sirisubdaechakun, during an interview on Channel 3’s news programme Hone Krasae.

Kana explained that Hot had pretended to be an influential politician and a personal advisor to PM Paetongtarn. He also claimed to have close ties to former PM Thaksin Shinawatra and even to the Royal Secretary to the King of Thailand.

Hot tricked the actress into agreeing to marry him by claiming he had already secured royal approval for their wedding ceremony, which made Kana hesitant to decline his proposal.

Kana further revealed that Hot fabricated a story, alleging that she and her business were at risk due to her business partner’s involvement in illegal activities. He claimed he would seek help from the Thai premier and asked Kana for 98,000 baht to purchase a gift for the PM as a token of gratitude for her support.

The actress later discovered that Hot was already married and held no influential position within the Government House, nor any connection to anyone working for the royal family. She added that several other women fell victim to this deceitful man.

Hot denied the allegations and attempted to commit suicide by jumping from the third floor of Khok Kham Police Station yesterday afternoon. He suffered a spinal fracture but is in a stable condition and remains under hospital care.

The Superintendent of Khok Kham Police Station, Prapas Kaewchit, told Matichon that officers had reviewed Hot’s criminal history and found an outstanding arrest warrant related to a fraud case he committed in 2021.

Thai news agencies also reported that Hot had changed his surname multiple times, allegedly to evade arrest and deceive more victims.

Jirayu Huangsub, the actual advisor to the 38 year old Thai prime minister, told news agencies today, April 8, that the PM had no personal acquaintance with Hot and had never had any communication with him. He firmly stated that Hot was never a personal advisor to her.

Jirayu added that the PM had already filed a complaint against Hot for unlawfully using her name in his criminal actions. However, the legal charges and penalties have yet to be determined by the police.
