A Thai man evaded paying a 500-baht bill at a petrol station by fleeing in his black sedan, dragging the fuel nozzle and hose along Hathairat Road in Bangkok.

A motorcyclist who witnessed the theft recorded a video of the black sedan pulling the fuel nozzle and hose along Hathairat Road and shared it on his TikTok account, rosphutnaned, on Saturday. The TikToker captioned the video: “Refuelling and driving away without payment. Bangchak Petrol Station on Hathairat Road.”

In the video, the black sedan is seen driving in the right lane with a green fuel nozzle stuck in its fuel tank lid, dragging the hose along the road. The car’s registration plate is clearly visible, and the driver appears to be a man.

The One 31 news agency later reported that the manager of the Bangchak Petrol Station, located between Soi Hathairat 31 and 33 in Bangkok’s Khlong Samwa district, had filed a complaint against the driver at Nimitmai Police Station.

The attendant, identified as 22 year old Thai man Jannarong, told the media that the suspect requested 500 baht worth of Gasohol 91 and handed him a membership card.

Jannarong refuelled the car and rushed to the cashier’s shelter to retrieve a card reader for the membership card. While using the device, he heard a loud noise at the fuel dispenser and turned to see the customer speeding away with the nozzle and hose.

Petrol spilled from the broken dispenser, prompting Jannarong to alert his manager, who was unable to pursue the fleeing vehicle.

Using details from the membership card, the thief was identified as 47 year old Phuetmongkon, who reportedly has a long criminal record, mostly involving theft and drug-related offences.

The Superintendent of Lam Luk Ka Police Station, Yingyot Chaladpru, later informed Channel 3 that Phuetmongkon was arrested at 10pm on the same day in the Lam Luk Ka area of Pathum Thani province, near Bangkok, in connection with a drug case.

Phuetmongkon is currently detained at Thanyaburi District Prison and will be transferred to Nimitmai Police Station to face charges relating to the fuel theft.
