Police in Bangkok nab suspect in gold necklace theft

Police in Tha Kham successfully apprehended a 28 year old man suspected of snatching a gold necklace from a Myanmar national in the Rama 2 area. The incident occurred yesterday, March 10, around 7.38pm, and was quickly resolved with the help of vigilant officers.
The arrest took place after the police, conducting routine patrols, were alerted by the Tha Kham Police Station’s radio centre about a robbery at the entrance of Soi Rama 2, subdistrict Samae Dam, Bang Khun Thian district, Bangkok.
Responding to the call, officers arrived at the scene and found a Myanmar national, Muang Yai, who was able to communicate effectively in Thai. He was in distress and calling for help after being robbed of his gold necklace.
Upon arriving at the scene in the middle of Soi Rama 2, the officers encountered Mueang Yai and learned that he had been struggling to hold onto his necklace when it was forcibly taken. The police immediately set about searching the area and soon apprehended Tawan, who matched the description provided by the victim.
Officers presented Tawan to Muang Yai, who confirmed that he was indeed the man who had run off with his necklace. The police recovered the stolen item, a gold necklace weighing 1 baht, from Tawan, reported KhaoSod.
Following the victim’s identification, Tawan was informed of the charges against him, specifically theft during nighttime, and his legal rights. Tawan acknowledged understanding the charges and was subsequently taken into custody for further legal proceedings.
