Night fire near Bangkok mall causes chaos and power cuts

A significant fire incident late last night near a popular shopping mall in Bangkok, caused widespread panic among residents and led to traffic congestion. The fire, which broke out in a large transformer at the Saen Saep substation in Din Daeng district yesterday, April 8, was quickly addressed by local fire crews.
Emergency services from the Huai Khwang fire station responded swiftly, managing to extinguish the blaze in a short period. Following the successful containment of the fire, officials conducted assessments to evaluate the extent of the damage.
The power outage across the Rama 9 area was reportedly due to officials cutting electricity to facilitate firefighting efforts at the substation. This incident sparked numerous Facebook posts from residents highlighting the fire near the well-known mall, advising others to avoid the area due to severe traffic disruptions.
During the fire, a Facebook user located near the scene posted about the incident, expressing frustration over the power outage affecting the Asok Montri Junction area.
The post read, “Another fire incident! A fire broke out behind Fortune Condominium at the Asoke Montri Junction. The power is out entirely… It’s been out for a while, and there’s no sign of restoration. Where is the electricity authority? We’re about to faint from the heat!”
At 9.40pm, the fire was declared under control, and power was restored to the affected areas, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, a car audio shop in Phuket was engulfed in flames in the morning, producing thick smoke and turning multiple vehicles into burnt-out shells, while traffic on Thepkrasattri Road came to a halt.
The fire erupted at Sound Technics Sapam, situated across from the Krungsri Bank in Ratsada, shortly after 8.20am on March 27. Firefighters worked for hours to extinguish the fierce blaze and eventually brought it under control.
