Fowl play: Bangkok woman ruffled by cyber cops in cockfighting bust

Thai cyber police arrested a 41 year old woman suspected of running an illegal online cockfighting gambling operation with daily transactions reaching hundreds of thousands of baht. The arrest followed an investigation and search at her residence in Sai Mai, Bangkok yesterday, April 8.
According to Police Lieutenant General Trairong Phiewphun of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, the operation was discovered after officers found a TikTok account named Phone Nong Cher Taem, which posted videos linking to a LINE group named Pichia 168 for online cockfighting bets.
The platform also allegedly facilitated other forms of gambling, including Hi-Lo and Pok Deng, managed by dealers.
Police Colonel Sutthichai Thianpho of the Cyber Crime Investigation Division 5 led the investigation team, which identified Duangdao as the owner of the TikTok account.
She was found residing in the Sai Mai district, prompting the police to secure a search warrant from the Don Mueang District Court.
The search of the residence on Soi Phahonyothin 54/1 discovered evidence linking Duangdao to the operation, including a mobile phone and a notebook detailing daily gambling transactions.
Duangdao admitted to facilitating online cockfighting bets via a LINE group tied to legal cockfighting arenas in southern Thailand, with the operation handling substantial sums of money daily, reported KhaoSod.
Police charged Duangdao with organising or advertising gambling without authorisation through electronic media. She was subsequently handed over to investigators for legal proceedings.

In similar news, Bang Lamung police launched a successful raid on an illicit cockfighting gambling den in Bang Lamung, Chon Buri, arresting 45.
Undercover officers infiltrated the cockfighting rings while other police surrounded the site. The den, camouflaged amidst cassava plantations, was home to four active cockfighting arenas and over 50 parked vehicles.
As police moved in, gamblers attempted to flee, but 45 were arrested. Police also seized 18 fighting cocks, betting slips, and thousands of baht in cash.
