Bangkok man arrested for clinic burglary to fund Songkran festivity

Officers from Lak Song Police Station arrested a 48 year old man for burglary at a dental clinic. The suspect, Nukul, also known as Yim, aimed to sell stolen gold and sacred amulets to fund a Songkran celebration at Sanam Luang. His criminal history revealed prior burglary offences.

Yesterday, April 16, Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom and his team received a report from Police Colonel Lertsak Khiemsap of Lak Song station about the arrest. The operation involved officers including Police Colonel Thitipong Siya and Police Lieutenant Thanapong Misangngern.

They seized various stolen items, including a silver HUAWEI mobile phone, a gold necklace with an amulet, a gold ring, and several other valuables. The arrest took place on the pavement near Prang Sapphasat Road in Phra Nakhon district, Bangkok, last night.

On April 14, officers from Lak Song station and the Metropolitan Police Division 9 were notified of a burglary at PBS Medical Complex in Bang Khae district, Bangkok. The stolen goods included watches, gold bracelets, diamond rings, and gold-encased amulets.

Following an investigation, police tracked the suspect to an area behind Khlong Lot on Atsadang Road in Phra Nakhon district. Upon locating Nukul or Yim, they identified themselves as police and apprehended him along with the stolen goods.

During questioning, the suspect admitted to the burglary, stating he was unemployed and needed money to attend Songkran festivities at Sanam Luang, reported KhaoSod.

A background check revealed he had previous burglary charges in 2017 and 2014 in Suphan Buri and Thong Lo, respectively. The suspect was formally recorded and handed over to investigators at Lak Song station for legal proceedings.
