Heavy thunderstorms and flash flood warnings across Thailand
Intensifying conditions prompt renewed alerts for landslides and storm surges

Weather conditions over the next 24 hours in Thailand are expected to include widespread thunderstorms with heavy rain in certain areas.
Residents are advised to remain cautious of potential flash floods, forest runoff, and landslides, especially in hilly areas, lowlands, and regions near watercourses. This weather pattern is influenced by a moderate southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, coupled with a low-pressure area over northern Laos and Vietnam.
The Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are experiencing moderate winds. The upper Andaman Sea has waves approximately 2 metres high, while the lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand have waves between 1 and 2 metres.
In areas with thunderstorms, waves can exceed 2 metres. Mariners are advised to navigate with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms. The weather forecast is valid from 6am today until 6am tomorrow.
In northern Thailand, there is a 70% chance of thunderstorms and heavy rain in provinces such as Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lamphun, Lampang, and Tak. Temperatures will range from a low of 23°C to a high of 35°C, with southwest winds at 5 to 15 kilometres per hour.
In the northeast, a 60% chance of thunderstorms is expected, with heavy rain in provinces including Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, and Mukdahan. Temperatures will range from 23°C to 35°C, with southwest winds at 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.

Central Thailand will see a 40% chance of thunderstorms, mainly in provinces such as Uthai Thani, Suphan Buri, Saraburi, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi. Temperatures are expected to be between 23°C and 35°C, with southwest winds at 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.
In eastern Thailand, there is a 60% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Temperatures will range from 23°C to 34°C, with southwest winds at 15 to 35 kilometres per hour. The sea will have waves of 1 to 2 metres, exceeding 2 metres in thunderstorm areas.
In the south (east coast), there is a 60% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain in Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Si Thammarat. Temperatures will range from 23°C to 35°C, with southwest winds at 15 to 35 kilometres per hour. The sea will have waves of about 1 metre, with 1 to 2 metre waves offshore and over 2 metres in thunderstorm areas.
On the south (west coast), there is a 70% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain in Ranong, Phang Nga, and Phuket. Temperatures will range from 24°C to 34°C.
Winds from Phuket northwards will be southwest at 20 to 35 kilometres per hour with 2 metre high seas; from Krabi southwards, winds will be southwest at 15 to 35 kilometres per hour with 1 to 2 metre high seas, exceeding 2 metres in thunderstorm areas, reported KhaoSod.
Bangkok and the surrounding areas can expect a 60% chance of thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 26°C to 35°C, and southwest winds at 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.
