Heavy rainfall forecast in Thailand with 59 provinces on alert
Flood dangers escalate as intense storms pound communities

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a weather forecast predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in 59 provinces across Thailand, with Bangkok expected to experience significant precipitation in 80% of its area.
Residents are advised to exercise caution due to potential flash floods, forest runoff, and landslides, especially in hilly regions and low-lying areas. It is recommended to avoid travelling through storm-prone areas and routes that frequently experience flooding.
Accumulated rainfall over the next 15 days is expected to be substantial, as highlighted in the TMD’s 11th announcement. This warning is crucial for farmers who should enhance their drainage systems to protect crops and livestock.
The monsoon trough is affecting the lower central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the upper southern region, and the eastern region. Additionally, a moderate southwest monsoon is prevailing over the Andaman Sea, the southern region, and the Gulf of Thailand.
The upper Andaman Sea is experiencing strong winds and waves reaching about 2 metres high, while the lower Andaman Sea has waves between 1 and 2 metres.
Areas with thunderstorms may see waves exceeding 2 metres, prompting mariners to proceed with caution and avoid sailing in stormy areas. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are advised to remain ashore for now.
