Bangkok set to get soaked as rain reigns over Thai 46 provinces
Flash flood risks rise as low-pressure system intensifies rainfall

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) today issued a weather forecast, warning of heavy rainfall across 46 provinces, including Bangkok, which is expected to experience rain in 70% of its area.
Residents are advised to remain cautious of potential flash floods and landslides. Thunderstorms and heavy rain are anticipated in parts of the northern, central, and eastern regions, particularly affecting Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Phayao, and Nan. People in these areas should be aware of the dangers posed by heavy and accumulated rainfall, especially in mountainous areas and near watercourses.
The weather conditions are attributed to a low-pressure system over northern Myanmar and Laos, combined with a moderate southwest monsoon affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. The Andaman Sea will experience moderate sea conditions, with waves reaching about 2 metres in the northern part and 1 to 2 metres in the southern part.
Areas with thunderstorms may see waves exceeding 2 metres. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid stormy areas.
Additionally, a depression east of the Philippines is projected to intensify into a tropical storm and move across northern Philippines into the upper South China Sea between July 19 and July 22.
This is expected to strengthen the southwest monsoon, leading to increased rainfall and heavy to very heavy rain in some parts of Thailand, with the Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand experiencing strong winds and waves between 2 to 3 metres and over 3 metres in thunderstorm areas.
