Heavy rainfall and high sea waves expected in Thailand
Southern seas and capital brace for turbulent weather

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) forecasts heavy rainfall in 30 provinces today, with Bangkok expecting significant precipitation in 20% of its areas. In the south, sea waves are expected to reach over two metres, prompting a warning for boats to avoid areas with thunderstorms.
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours indicates minimal rain in northern Thailand due to a weakened southwest monsoon affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Meanwhile, a low-pressure zone is situated over northern Vietnam.
The Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will experience weak winds, with waves reaching 1 to 2 metres in the upper Andaman Sea and exceeding 2 metres during thunderstorms. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and steer clear of areas with thunderstorms.
In the north, thunderstorms are expected in 20% of the region, mainly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, and Tak. Temperatures are predicted to range from 24°C to 37°C. The southwest wind will blow at 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.
The northeast will see thunderstorms in 20% of the area, primarily in Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani, with temperatures between 24°C and 37°C and a southwest wind of 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.
In the central region, thunderstorms are expected in 20% of areas, especially in Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 38°C. The southwest wind will maintain a speed of 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.
Weather forecast
The eastern region can expect thunderstorms in 30% of its area, mainly in Nakhon Nayok, Chachoengsao, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat, with temperatures from 25°C to 36°C. Winds will blow at 15 to 30 kilometres per hour, with sea waves reaching approximately 1 metre and exceeding 2 metres during thunderstorms.
In the south (eastern coast), thunderstorms will cover 30% of the area, particularly in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. Temperatures will range between 24°C and 36°C, with a southwest wind of 15 to 30 kilometres per hour. The sea will have waves around 1 metre, exceeding 2 metres during storms.
On the South’s western coast, thunderstorms are anticipated in 30% of the area, mostly in Ranong, Phang Nga, Trang, and Satun. Temperatures are expected to be between 24°C and 35°C. From Phang Nga upwards, southwest winds will blow at 15 to 35 kilometres per hour, with waves reaching 1 to 2 metres and higher during storms.
From Phuket downwards, winds will be 15 to 30 kilometres per hour, with waves around 1 metre and thunderstorms causing waves of 1 to 2 metres, reported KhaoSod.
Bangkok and its vicinity will face thunderstorms in 20% of the area, with temperatures ranging from 26°C to 37°C. The southwest wind will blow at 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.
