TMD warns of colder week ahead as Thailand weather shifts

Officials urge caution as temperatures dip and rainfall tapers off

Thailand will see shifting winds, scattered rain, and cooler temperatures as weather patterns change across the country, officials have announced.

Somkuan Tonjan, Director of the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD)’s Weather Forecasting Division, announced that from today, November 11, to tomorrow, November 12, changing wind patterns and high humidity will continue to bring cloudy skies and light to moderate rain across much of the country.

“The north and upper northeast will see winds shift to easterly and northeasterly directions, while southerly winds continue over the Gulf. Rain will persist in some areas, but there is no serious concern about rising water levels in river basins.”

Farmers, however, are being urged to act fast to protect crops during the remaining rain, particularly those currently drying or harvesting produce.

In the south, scattered rain will continue, with the chance of heavy rainfall in some areas. Waves along coastal zones are beginning to ease, but residents are still advised to remain cautious.

A weak cold air mass is already moving into upper Thailand and is expected to spread more systematically, bringing thunderstorms at first, followed by cooler morning temperatures.

From November 13 to 21, a moderate to strong cold air mass from China will cover upper Thailand. Winds will intensify, and rainfall will reduce, giving way to noticeably cooler weather. Hilltop and mountaintop areas in the northern and upper northeastern regions will experience particularly chilly mornings.

“Residents should be prepared for this shift and look after their health. Cold winds will follow the initial rain, so dress appropriately and plan your travels, especially in the northern regions.”

TNN Thailand reports that the south, particularly areas along the Gulf of Thailand, may face an increase in rainfall as a low-pressure trough is expected to move across the region. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely, and those in flood-prone zones are advised to stay alert and monitor forecasts closely.

Tropical Storm Fungwong, which is currently moving northward towards Taiwan, is expected to weaken and has no impact on Thailand’s weather, according to officials.

Forecasts are subject to change, and residents are advised to stay up to date with the latest information through official weather bulletins.
