Heavy rain forecast for 38 Thai provinces today
Communities urged to caution as flood risk intensifies

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has forecast heavy rain across four regions tomorrow, with 38 provinces expected to be affected. Residents are advised to prepare for flash floods and landslides due to continuous rainfall. The warning applies particularly to the north, northeast, east, and the western coast of the south.
The TMD predicted heavy downpours in specific areas, notably in Lampang, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Lamphun, Chiang Mai, Tak, Mae Hong Son, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, Nakhon Sawan, Trat, Ranong, and Phang Nga. These areas should be vigilant of possible flash floods and landslides, especially in foothill regions near waterways.
The monsoon trough over the north and northeast, along with a relatively strong southwesterly monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, is contributing to these conditions. Additionally, a low-pressure system persists over the lower north.
The weather today also includes a warning for strong winds and high waves in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand, where waves may reach 2 to 3 metres. In areas with thunderstorms, waves could exceed 3 metres. Mariners are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid stormy areas.
Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf should remain ashore. Coastal residents in the east and upper western South should be cautious of waves from yesterday, August 31, to tomorrow, September 2.
The low-pressure system, downgraded from Tropical Depression Nongfa, is moving along the monsoon trough over the lower north and is expected to enter Myanmar today.
