The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued another weather warning for today, predicting heavy rain in 32 provinces, with 60% of Bangkok expected to experience thunderstorms from afternoon to evening. Flash floods and forest runoff are potential risks.

The TMD forecasts increased rainfall across Thailand over the next 24 hours, particularly in the upper northeastern and lower southern regions. Despite the rain, daytime temperatures will remain high.

This weather pattern is driven by a moderate-strength southwesterly monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Additionally, a monsoon trough extending through upper Myanmar and Laos into a low-pressure area over northern Vietnam is contributing to these conditions.

Residents in affected areas are advised to be cautious of heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which could lead to flash floods and forest runoff, especially in hilly areas, near waterways, and low-lying regions. The public is also encouraged to care for their health due to the rising temperatures.

In the upper Andaman Sea, moderate winds will create waves between 1 and 2 metres high, with areas experiencing thunderstorms seeing waves above 2 metres. Mariners are advised to avoid sailing in stormy regions.

The northern region will see thunderstorms in 40% of the area, primarily in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Tak, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun. Temperatures will range from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius at night and reach 35 to 37 degrees Celsius during the day, with southwesterly winds blowing at 5 to 15 kilometres per hour.
