Efforts to address Pattaya’s persistent traffic congestion took a significant step forward as Bang Lamung district chief Wikit Manarojkit led a pivotal meeting with key stakeholders at Pattaya City Hall just before the weekend.

The gathering included Pattaya City Mayor Poramese Ngamphiches, Police Colonel Nawin Thirawit, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, Police Colonel Tawi Kutthaeng, Superintendent of Nong Prue Police Station, and traffic police officers from Pattaya City, Bang Lamung, and Nong Prue Police Stations, as well as heads of relevant government agencies.

The meeting’s primary objective was to develop effective strategies to alleviate traffic congestion in areas under the jurisdiction of the three police stations: Pattaya City Police Station, Bang Lamung Police Station, and Nong Prue Police Station.

The growing number of vehicles and population has intensified traffic issues, prompting the need for a collaborative approach.

Integrated Traffic Management

The stakeholders agreed on a coordinated approach involving district authorities, police officers, Pattaya City, and Nong Prue Municipality. Traffic officers, city law enforcement officers, volunteer traffic officers, and police officers will be deployed at key intersections during peak hours to manage traffic flow more efficiently.

Strict Law Enforcement

A commitment was made to rigorously enforce parking regulations, particularly in no-parking zones, to free up traffic lanes and reduce congestion. This measure aims to ensure smoother traffic movement throughout the city’s busiest areas.

Public Van Route Adjustments

The need to update public van routes and enforce laws against illegal parking was highlighted. Public vans, notably on the beach road, frequently slow down to pick up passengers, causing significant traffic delays. A follow-up meeting with two-row/Baht Bus vehicle operators will be organised to discuss and implement these changes.

Wikit Manarojkit stressed the importance of these measures, stating that a dedicated working group has been established to oversee the implementation and coordination of these traffic solutions. The collaborative effort aims to ease the burden on police officers and improve traffic flow in Pattaya City and Bang Lamung District, reported Pattaya News.
