A tragic accident occurred in Mueang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, yesterday, resulting in the death of 48 year old Chitlada. The incident involved an 18-wheel truck and a motorcycle driven by Chitlada, who was returning home from rubber tapping.

Police Colonel Phadungphong Duksukkaew received the report yesterday, January 13, and instructed investigators to examine the scene with a local hospital doctor and rescue staff.

The collision happened in subdistrict Mai Riang, where Chitlada’s lower body was severely damaged, and her motorcycle was left in ruins. CCTV footage captured the moment she attempted to overtake the 18-wheel truck while it was passing a 10-wheel truck transporting road-cleaning water.

It is suspected that slippery road conditions caused her to fall, resulting in the larger vehicle running over her.

The truck driver involved in the incident surrendered to the police at the scene. During questioning, it emerged that Chitlada was heading home when the unfortunate accident transpired, reported KhaoSod.

Initial investigations have utilised the CCTV footage as critical evidence, and the truck driver has been questioned as part of the legal process. After completing the autopsy, officials released the body to the family for traditional funeral arrangements.
