At the scene, the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood in the middle of the road. The victim, identified as 16 year old Witthaya Phumprasop, from Chachoengsao, suffered a severe head wound and a broken right shoulder, with bones protruding from the flesh. The severity of the injury indicated an immediate fatality.

Thanet Osotchareon, the 25 year old driver of the car, stated that he was driving from Buriram to Chon Buri. As he reached the accident site, a motorcycle abruptly turned from the right side, crossing a solid line and cutting into his lane, making it impossible for him to brake in time. The collision caused the motorcycle to fall, but Thanet was unsure if it was his car or a following pickup truck that struck the victim.

The family of the deceased gathered at the scene, embracing and crying inconsolably. The man who claimed to be the motorcycle’s passenger gave inconsistent statements. He initially denied driving the motorcycle, asserting that the deceased was the driver. He then said he would fetch the deceased’s relatives but never returned after riding away on the motorcycle, reported KhaoSod.

Police cleared the scene and reviewed footage from a dashcam in the car involved. The video revealed that the man who claimed to be the passenger was the driver, and the deceased was the passenger. It became evident that the man attempted to evade responsibility by discarding his shirt in the nearby forest.
