Teen dies in tragic motorcycle crash with truck in Bangkok

A teenage boy tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash just four days after celebrating his birthday. The collision with a six-wheeled truck occurred on Phahonyothin Road in front of the Koksamrong Transport Office yesterday.

Police Lieutenant Veerapat Khwanseephat from Koksamrong Police Station received the report of the fatal accident involving a motorcycle and a six-wheeled truck.

The incident took place between kilometres 182 and 183 on the inbound lane towards Koksamrong district. Police and a doctor from Koksamrong Hospital as well as members of the Koksamrong Rescue Association, promptly arrived at the scene.

At the site of the accident, a blue Isuzu six-wheeled truck with licence plate 81-2474 Lopburi was parked on the left side of the road. Underneath the truck, a blue Honda Wave motorcycle with the licence plate 1 กย 7415 Lopburi was found alongside the lifeless body of 15 year old Wuttichai.

The boy died instantly, suffering severe injuries. An inspection revealed that the motorcycle had collided with the rear of the truck before being dragged for over 20 metres. Debris from the motorcycle and body parts were scattered around the area, while the boy’s parents and relatives were heard crying out in grief.

The 42 year old truck driver, Thanakorn recounted that he had just finished his business at the transport office and had driven onto the road for only a short distance when he heard a loud crash. Upon checking, he found the motorcycle had collided with the rear of his truck, resulting in the young rider’s death.

Security footage confirmed that the motorcycle was travelling at high speed and did not brake before crashing into the truck.

“I was just driving out onto the road when I heard a loud noise. I looked back and saw the motorcycle had hit my truck.”

Police have taken Thanakorn into custody at Koksamrong Police Station for further investigation and potential charges of reckless driving causing death, reported KhaoSod.
