An accident claimed the life of a futsal athlete who lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a median on his way back from a restaurant. The incident occurred on a road notorious for frequent accidents, prompting an urgent search for a grey-black sedan.

Jeerawat Phutapuek, an investigator with Lopburi City Police Station, received a report of a motorcycle crash at around 2.41am today on Narai Maharaj Road, heading towards Lopburi city. Medical personnel from Ananda Mahidol Hospital and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation rushed to the scene.

The accident occurred in front of Lopburi Technology College, where police found the body of 30 year old Natthawut. His head injury was severe, with blood pooling around him. Approximately 20 metres away, a Honda motorcycle with Lopburi plates lay wrecked, its engine shattered, and the speedometer dislodged, stuck at 85 kilometres per hour. Debris from an unidentified vehicle was also found nearby.

A friend of the deceased revealed that Natthawut was a futsal athlete. Before the accident, he had been out with friends at an entertainment venue and later had a meal together. They parted ways to head home, with Natthawut riding his motorcycle alone when the fatal accident occurred.

Chatchai, the owner of a nearby CCTV camera, recounted that he was in bed when he heard a crash on the road outside his house. Checking his surveillance footage, he saw the motorcycle overturned and a person lying unconscious. He promptly notified the police.

Chatchai also noted that accidents frequently occur on this stretch of road despite adequate lighting. He urged motorists to reduce their speed, highlighting that some accidents are due to drink driving.

After conducting a preliminary examination with medical staff and gathering evidence, the police plan to review CCTV footage to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. They are also investigating the grey-black sedan suspected of hitting the motorcycle and fleeing the scene.
