Pickup truck plunges into sea at Rayong’s Maptaput estate

A pickup truck plummeted into the sea in Rayong, leaving bystanders helpless as they watched the vehicle and its occupant disappear beneath the waves.
The incident was reported to the Mueang Rayong District Police Station today, February 17, when a local fisherman witnessed the accident near the coastal road at the Maptaput Industrial Estate.
Upon arrival at the scene, located along the seawall behind the Maptaput Industrial Estate, emergency services discovered debris from the truck and the licence plate ฒษ-345 from Bangkok at the shore.
Traces indicated the vehicle had plunged into the sea, but strong waves thwarted any immediate recovery efforts.
A local, who was fishing at the time, recounted seeing the truck fall into the sea and noticed someone inside.
Despite rushing to help, the truck sank rapidly, prompting him to alert police immediately, reported KhaoSod.

Divers initiated a search in the turbulent waters but faced challenges due to the rough sea conditions.
As of 6am today, February 17, the truck had not been located, and plans for a continued search operation were underway. Emergency services remain determined to recover the vehicle and ascertain the fate of its occupant.
