Motorcyclist dies in crash with truck on Thai bridge
A tragic accident occurred when a woman riding a motorcycle collided with the edge of a bridge and was then struck by an 18-wheel truck, resulting in her immediate death on the road. The truck driver stated that he was unable to brake in time.
The incident was reported at 7am yesterday, November 20, to Thanawat Chandi, a duty investigator at the Sra Bua Police Station in Prachinburi province, by the Sawang Saeng Sathan Kabinburi rescue unit.
The accident took place on Highway 304, on the bridge at Ban Nong Klao in Lat Takhian subdistrict, Kabin Buri district. Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered the deceased woman, later identified as 30 year old Chutamat. Her remains were scattered across the road, and her motorcycle was found overturned nearby.
The 18-wheel truck involved in the collision was parked not far from the scene. The driver, identified as Thawatchai, recounted the events leading up to the accident. He explained that he was driving from Sa Kaeo Province, transporting timber to Laem Chabang in Chon Buri province, reported KhaoSod.
As he approached the bridge, he noticed the motorcycle ahead of him. The motorcycle struck the edge of the bridge, causing the rider to lose control and be thrown directly into the path of his truck. Despite his efforts, Thawatchai was unable to brake in time, resulting in the fatal accident.
In related news, a tragic road accident occurred on November 17 involving a speeding pickup truck that collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a 58 year old man. Police are investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage to determine the cause.
At 1.15am on November 17, Veerawat Niyomsap, an investigator at Khlong Luang Police Station, received a report of a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle, leading to injuries and a fatality. The accident took place on the outbound lane of Bang Khan-Nong Suea Road in Khlong Si subdistrict, Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani province.
