Man dies after fall hits car on Nonthaburi road
A 63 year old man experienced a shocking incident while driving to pick up his daughter, as an unexpected object struck his car, causing significant damage and resulting in a fatality. Police are investigating the cause, speculating a possible fall from a U-turn bridge.
Today, January 30, officers from Bang Bua Thong Police Station in Nonthaburi province, along with the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, responded to reports of a person lying on the inbound lane of Kanchanaphisek Road, near the Phra Phimon Bridge in Bang Bua Thong subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong district, Nonthaburi. Upon arrival, they coordinated with a forensic doctor from the Institute of Forensic Science to examine the scene.
The man was identified as 68 year old Bunchoed Ruksarat, found face down, wearing green trousers and a cream t-shirt with an apron, resembling a vendor. A single sandal was discovered under the U-turn bridge approximately 50 metres from the body, with the other sandal found another 50 metres away.
In the apron, a red pouch containing coins was discovered. Nearby, a car registration plate reading 4กฉ 8802 Bangkok was found about 100 metres from the scene, where a white Honda City with shattered windshields and a dented bonnet was parked. Family members and the car owner, informed of the incident, arrived at the scene.
Relatives mentioned that the man resided in Soi Kantana and worked as a day labourer. They were unclear about why Bunchoed was in the area, which is far from his home.
Somchai, the 63 year old driver of the car, explained that while driving in the main lane to pick up his daughter from Khlong Bang Phai BTS station, he heard a loud impact at the front of his vehicle. Initially, he thought it was a rock, so he pulled over.
Man fall
He was shocked and soon after encountered police officers who informed him they were unaware of what his car had collided with. While speaking with the officers, a passerby stopped and informed them of a body lying near the road’s median. It was then realised that the object that struck his car was indeed the body.
Police officials recorded the incident and interviewed the car driver. The exact cause of the man’s fall remains unknown, and further investigation will involve reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to determine if the man was crossing the road or fell from the U-turn bridge, reported KhaoSod.
The body has been handed over to the Ruamkatanyu Foundation for transfer to the Institute of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
